Job Title: Staff Nurse, Wards/Floors
Department/Division: Nursing
Job content: Direct and close monitoring of patients for appropriate care.
Duties:
• Caring for patients, checking vitals.
• Assisting the doctors on rounds; carrying out physicians’ orders.
• Maintaining and updating nurses’ notes and other charts and registers.
• Obtaining lab samples, providing counseling and psychological support to patients.
• Preparing the room for patient arrivals, keeping the ward neat and safe.
• Maintaining personal hygiene and ensuring comfort of patients.
• Attending to nutritional needs of patients.
• Preparing and arranging trolleys, maintaining ward policy and routines.
• Imparting health education to patients, supervisors, students and trainees.
• Attending to code blue calls.
• Handing over duties appropriately.
• Additional responsibilities entrusted by the units.
Required knowledge: The candidate must have good theoretical and practical knowledge
about various nursing processes and procedures.
Required skills: The candidate must have good domain skills along with good
communication and interpersonal skills.
Education, experience and formal training: Graduate with GNM/B.Sc. (Nursing).
Role complexity: Limited complexity as the role involves direct care and close monitoring
of patients and working under direct supervision of doctors/senior nurses.
Interpersonal skills: The candidate should have good interpersonal and behavioral skills
as he/she would be directly and in constant contact with doctors, patients and attendants.
Supervisory skills: Limited scope for supervisory skills; candidate should have the capacity
to coordinate with other associates.
Independent judgment: Limited scope for independent decision as he/she needs to perform
instructed duties.
Leadership responsibilities: Less scope for leadership responsibility as they are directly
supervised by doctors/senior nurses
